Whenever I look at my work from over two years ago I’m horrified. How did someone pay me to make that? The color is way off. The editing is inconsistent. The music choice. My god. Every once in a while I find a video that holds up pretty well. But for the most part I think it’s all shit.
I’ve talked with other creatives and it turns out that I’m not alone. I’ve come to look at this as a good thing. It represents the constant progression of your craft. You’re simultaneously learning more about the art you’re creating, while at the same time developing a better eye for what’s good.
It’s not to say that the work you made from years ago is shit (though, it might be). The main takeaway is that you’re getting better. So try not to cringe. It’s a good sign that you’re heading towards greatness.
